Heart of Ottawa Medical Centre is a privately owned family medical centre ideally located in the heart of our nation's capital. Established in 1998, our renovated facility reopened under new ownership and management in September 2011 as a state-of-the art medical facility.

In November 2012 we received our designation as a Family Health Organization (FHO) and as such, our priority is to help support the medical needs of residents of centretown Ottawa.

Rostered patients are welcome to book appointments during regular business hours:

Monday to Friday 8am to 12 noon and 1pm to 4pm.

Urgent same day after hours care is also provided to our rostered patients:

Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm by appointment.

 Important Information about our Family Health Organization

When you become a rostered patient at Heart of Ottawa, you and your doctor both sign an Ontario Ministry of Health contract that confirms that you are part of our practice. For patients, signing this contract indicates that you will call your family doctor at Heart of Ottawa first, when in need of medical care, and that you will avoid  seeing  other doctors, except in very special circumstances.

For the doctor, the contract means that they will provide you with comprehensive primary care services and offer after-hours and same-day care within certain guidelines.  Because Heart of Ottawa works in a team setting, doctors cover for each other on the days they are not available and provide a level of care that was not previously possible.

Your doctor is paid to provide your primary care medical services and if you seek care elsewhere (Urgent Care, Other Walk-in Clinics, Weight Loss Centres) your doctor and their facility are charged for your visit. If you are seeking a service you feel your doctor does not provide, then discuss with your doctor where you should seek those services and they will provide you with a referral when those services are needed.

Emergency issues should still be seen at a hospital emergency department.

Our walk-in clinic for the general public is now permanently closed.  Our doctors see their own rostered patients by appointment only.  If you are a former walk-in patient and wish to arrange to have your chart transferred to another doctor or clinic, please sign a “Consent to Release Personal Information” form at your new doctor’s office, clearly identifying your agreement to have a copy of your chart transferred to your doctor.   This form should be mailed to us with your original signature.  A member of our staff will contact you within 6 weeks to make arrangements for payment.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to the nature of the patient – doctor relationship, we do not wish to use email as a means of communication with the public or patients:

i)              regarding questions or issues of a medical nature;

ii)             to establish physician/patient relationships;

iii)            to book, cancel or change appointments; or

iv)            for inquiries regarding fees, services or similar matters.
